Mistakes do happen. It is a rare occasion, but sometimes the ST4000 drive also needs spare parts. The body-side end of the drive has so far been the only spare part needed for this product, and we have it in stock.

What moves, wears out, and let's be honest, the autopilot sometimes has to give its last gasp. Belts and pulleys wear out, that's perfectly normal. If you feel that the autopilot is making a strange noise, or you can clearly hear and feel the motor spinning with no result, then the belts and pulleys have likely worn out. The set includes two belts, three pulleys, and one shaft. If you have opened up your autopilot, it may appear at first glance that only one belt is broken and the other parts do not need to be replaced. However, technically, the other parts are also worn and replacing only one belt is not advisable. Be sure to replace all the parts included in the set.

The Tiller Bracket attaches to the tiller pin, allowing the autopilot drive's mounting point to be raised or lowered relative to the tiller pin. This bracket can be fitted either above or below the tiller pin. The Tiller Bracket is available in 25mm, 51mm, 76mm, 105mm and 127mm extensions. During installation, it is not always possible to precisely determine where the rear end of the ST1000+, ST2000+, ST4000 tiller pilot drive should be attached. You must always choose the most practical, accessible and strongest location. At the same time, important installation dimensions must be observed, which are 460mm from the tiller head towards the tiller handle, and as parallel (horizontal) as possible relative to the boat and tiller. Another important dimension is the so-called “Midstroke”, i.e. the centre position. For the ST1000+ and ST2000+, this is 589mm and for the ST4000, it is 620mm. These are the distances between the centres of the tiller pin and hull-side mountings. To achieve the ideal result, it may be necessary to use various extension links, brackets designed to raise or lower the tiller plane, and horizontal or vertical wall-mounted extension supports. Be sure to also read the tiller pilot installation manual!
