The STNG Backbone adapter cable is a good option for connecting an STNG network to an existing NMEA2000 network or vice-versa. If you are connecting to the end of an existing network, one adapter cable will be needed, and if you are connecting in the middle, two adapter cables will be needed. Choose a suitable NMEA2000 connector: there are 2 options, Male or Female. The Raymarine STNG Backbone (blue\/black) cable, as the name suggests, is the \u201cbackbone\u201d cable. The Backbone cable runs from the beginning to the end of the STNG network on the boat, and it is sensible to assemble the network using cables of different lengths so that you can make breaks and add T-connectors or 5-Way connectors where STNG instruments need to be added. The Backbone is the main cable of the STNG network, and to start, extend, or terminate the network, you must add STNG terminators, connectors, and a 12V power supply. The Backbone cable runs through the boat from the beginning to the end of the STNG network, and it is sensible to construct the network using cables of different lengths to allow for breaks and the addition of T-connectors or 5-way connectors where different STNG instruments need to be added. The Backbone is the main cable for the STNG network, and STNG terminators, connectors, and 12V power must be added to start, extend, or terminate the network. STNG blue and white cables cannot be connected incorrectly; in addition to colour coding, STNG cables also have different pin configurations.
