The Raymarine STNG SPUR cable is a spur cable that connects devices (blue\/black) to the BackBone cable, which, as the name suggests, is the \u201cspine\u201d cable. The BackBone cable runs from the beginning to the end of the STNG network on the boat. It is sensible to construct the network using cables of different lengths, allowing for breaks and the addition of T-connectors or 5-Way connectors to places where various STNG instruments need to be connected.
