CMSK-TDMA The term consists of two parts:

- CMSK (Coherent Minimum Shift KeyingDigital modulation method that allows efficient data transmission on a radio channel.
- TDMA (Time Division Multiple AccessTime-division multiplexing access for multiple devices. This is a channel-sharing technology that allows multiple devices (ships) to use the same radio frequency, transmitting data in precisely timed intervals or “time slices” to avoid signal interference.
