Blanking Plug – in Estonian simply “blind” or protective cap is a necessary accessory to protect the empty white SPUR (branch cable) sockets of STNG 5-Way connectors. It is sensible to choose STNG connectors so that a few free SPUR cable sockets always remain free for the future. There should definitely be a few free SPUR cable sockets at the captain's table and near the control stations. These empty “holes” should initially be covered with blanking plugs. The STNG network blanking plug is not suitable for the blue socket of the STNG connector because the pin holes do not match, and a correctly built STNG network cannot have any empty blue BackBone sockets. The Raymarine STNG SPUR cable is a branch cable through which devices (blue/black) are connected to the BackBone cable, which is, as the name suggests, the “backbone” cable. The BackBone cable runs throughout the boat from the beginning to the end of the STNG network, and it is sensible to assemble the network from cables of different lengths in such a way that it is possible to make breaks and add T-connectors or 5-Way connectors at locations where different STNG instruments need to be added. The BackBone is the main cable of the STNG network, and to start, continue, or terminate the network, STNG terminators, connectors, and a 12V power supply must be added. STNG blue and white cables cannot be connected incorrectly; in addition to color coding, STNG cables also have different pin arrangements. Before using the product, familiarise yourself with the operating principles of the STNG (NMEA2000) network. NB! The blue and white nuts of the STNG connector sockets should only be turned a quarter of a turn. Corresponding markings are indicated on the product.
