New Raymarine RCU-1 Autopilot Wireless Remote Control and Base Station. The included WG-1 base station connects directly to the STNG (NMEA2000) network. Up to three RCU-1 remote controls can be connected to one base station. The remote control is powered by 2xAA batteries, which last up to 30 days with daily use. Suitable batteries include 1.5V AA type alkaline batteries, as well as rechargeable 1.5V Lithium or NiMH batteries. The new remote control also features a safety function for solo sailors; the boat will turn into the wind if the remote control's user falls overboard. Additionally, the new remote control has a quick "Point-and-Go" course setting function. The new RCU-1 is approximately 16 cm long, 6 cm wide, and 3 cm thick. The colour screen with backlight also displays other data such as speed, depth, wind, etc. The remote has built-in 3-axis sensors: an accelerometer, magnetometer, and gyroscope. The device connects to the base station via Bluetooth 5.1, with an operating range of 30m in an open environment. Evolution autopilot itself and the Raymarine RCU-1 will not operate without at least one autopilot control head, such as a p70s/p70Rs or an Evolution autopilot compatible chartplotter. The RCU-1 is a remote control only, a wireless handset that communicates with the autopilot system via the WG-1 gateway and is not capable of replacing the main system controller. Essential calibration and system-critical functions such as compass calibration, drive configuration, and dockside setup require a physical control head, which is a p70/p70s/p70Rs or an Axiom series chartplotter.
